What’s the Stitch?

I saw a meme the other day about how hard it is to find clothes when you’re somewhere between Arianna Grande and Hillary Clinton. I swear, I am almost 30 but I am NOT wearing bermuda shorts and knee-length A-line dresses anytime soon. I also would die before I wore a crop top without something super high-waisted to hide the muffin top. There’s a balance between those two extremes somewhere, but going into a store and finding it is just too much labor sometimes. Can’t someone else do it for me?!

As my close friends (and my mom) know, I am OBSESSED with Stitchfix. I tried it on a whim almost two years ago, and I was instantly hooked. In my old age (I’m 80 at heart so leave me alone), I get extreme anxiety going to malls…mainly because our mall is in freaking Myrtle Beach, so it’s just a redneck tourist disaster 99% of the year. I would honestly rather listen to my husband talk about fishing equipment or golf clubs than go shopping sometimes, which is where Stitchfix comes in!

Getting Started

Getting started is honestly fun. You fill out your style profile, which is a surprisingly thorough assessment that basically makes you evaluate yourself and wonder how you ever chose your own clothes (seriously y’all I struggled).

You choose your style, body type, budget, and even how you prefer your clothes to fit. I have my Pinterest board with outfit ideas linked to my profile as well as my Instagram, just so they can lurk me even better and get my fix even more customized to my taste. At the end, they also give you an option to write a little blurb about yourself, which makes it feel more personal. You also have the option of writing your stylist a little note before each subsequent fix and telling her what you want. I would equate it to a personal shopper on demand. I have my fixes set to arrive monthly, but you can do them however and whenever you want (no charge to skip if you do have it set on a schedule either)!

The App

One of my favorite things about this subscription is that the app is SO user friendly. It’s also a piece of cake to use their website, but the app is just my favorite. On the main screen, you can thumbs up/thumbs down stuff you like and don’t like so that they can discern what you think is cute and what you think is especially heinous (yes, I use that phrase regularly thank you Law & Order SVU).

What you Get

Each box gives you 5 pieces (clothes AND handbags/jewelry depending on what you ask for), and they customize it to YOUR preferences. I will go ahead and warn you, every SINGLE pair of jeans/denim they have sent me has felt like butter and fit like a glove.

Y’all, I’ll be honest. I have had some fixes that led to me leaving very snarky comments on my feedback page (seriously, I asked for athleisure stuff once and got dressy jewelry and a shirt that looked like the prison uniforms in Oh Brother Where art Thou. BUT, I will admit that the sending back process is SO easy. Just chuck the rejects in the mailer they send you and walk it to your mailbox! The feedback you leave them when you choose your keepers will help them make your next fix even more personalized (well, theoretically of course) At this point, most of my favorite pieces in my closet are Stitchfix. I even got my mom a box for Christmas and now she’s addicted too! Guess what I got her for mommy’s day?!

The fix pictured below has been my favorite so far! I got a new stylist and she NAILED IT! Included was:

This red tassel top was my FAVORITE piece in this box. It comes right above the belt line in the front, perfect if you have a cute belt you want to show off (Gucci always wins)
Who doesn’t LOVE tropical print…also, I realize that I am completely basic by saying that. Still, this was definitely a keeper and matched my new Sam Edelman slides 100%…AND these white jeans. I told myself I wasn’t keeping them because they were expensive…and then I made the mistake of trying them on. The pants won.
This olive green maxi was SO comfortable, especially since it coordinated with a bralette I had and I could ditch the underwire. I paired it with one of my new scrunchies in the same burgundy and my favorite Bauble Bar earrings (linked)
I’ve been dying to have a long jumpsuit, and I finally got my wish! The best part? The fabric is wrinkle free. I literally had it wadded up on my dresser all night and wore it the next morning to my sister-in-law’s graduation
